I hope that we can, at some point, have some reasonable regulations on AI, as we do concerning banks, wiretaps, and dangerous chemicals.

It'd also worth noting a huge part of the auto story also has to do with dollar hegemony which made imports cheaper rather than labor per se.
It's sufficiently complicated that it's not a *completely* clean example but more efficient use of labor and greater automation was definitely a major factor
